Sixth Form Catering

We are very excited to be working in partnership with Cucina, a proudly chef-led business, who make all of our food on site and from scratch.  There are new look menus, a variety of healthy choices, new service areas and a fresh whole new dining experience for our students.

Cashless Catering

We use cashless catering technology for the purchase of food in our restaurant. This system has many advantages for students and their parents/carers.

  • Each student has an account, which can be credited online through WisePay, this is our preferred method, as this significantly reduces the problems of losing / mislaying / forgetting lunch money.
  • Each student pays in the same way.
  • The system speeds up payment and lunch-time queues, so students will spend less time waiting.

Each student will need to enrol in order to facilitate this, you will then be able to credit their account online on Wisepay and they can then purchase food in the restaurant by placing their finger on a fingertip scanner.

How much can students spend on food and drink?

Sixth Form students have a limit of £6 per day to spend on food and drink items. If you would like to increase or reduce that limit please email [email protected].

How to pay for cashless catering

To avoid cash being carried around in school, the preferred method to credit accounts is by Wisepay.

If you have any concerns please contact The Finance Team on 0161 624 1484 or email [email protected].

WisePay

The online payment service for the payment of lunch money, trips, events, tickets etc is called WisePay. This is a quick and easy to use system which is available 24/7 and allows you to make safe, secure payments on-line via debit/credit card.

How do I set up WisePay

New Year 12 students will be issued with log in details when they commence their course in September.  Once you have received your log in details please log on as soon as possible to ensure any problems can be dealt with before we go live.  It is recommended that you change your password which will automatically change your username to your registered email address.  This means that when you log in subsequently you will be required to enter your email address and new password.  The original username provided by school will become redundant.  There is a Help Guide and FAQ page available:

Please note:

There is only one account for each child so parents will be required to share log in details. In the event of parents residing at different addresses and a need for both to make payments, please contact the finance department at the school.

If you have more than one child at the school you will receive separate log in details for each child but parents are able to link the siblings so they are viewed under a single log in – please see the How to Guide on the website. N.B. Accounts must be linked from the youngest sibling.

What do I need to do?

Check your Junk/Spam folders and add the email address [email protected] to your contact favourites or approved sender list to ensure that any WisePay communications are displayed in your main newsfeed.

Ensure you use an up-to-date internet browser such as Internet Explorer v9 and above. Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome are recommended over the default browser with some smart phones and tablets.

All parent accounts will automatically be set up to receive text and emails. If you do not wish to receive one or both forms of communication you will need to change your settings in your WisePay Account section on the home page – see help guide on the website.

Changes to contact details

You will be able to change your contact details in WisePay but it is imperative that you also inform the school so our internal records are up to date and in particular so that you will continue to be able to receive correspondence. If you wish the school to make the changes in WisePay on your behalf please let us know this when you are submitting any contact detail changes to us. Remember you won’t be able to log into WisePay using any new email address until we have made the change in the WisePay system for you.

Food Allergen Information

At Cucina we believe it is every pupil’s right to be given a safe meal at lunchtime.  We take pride in feeding more pupils better food, including our pupils with food allergies or food intolerances.  To enable the service of safe food to each pupil we have robust allergen and allergen – medical diet procedures that must be followed within our kitchens.

We believe that the provision of an allergen- medical diet is a collaborative process, through which we will engage with our parents and carers to provide each pupil with a healthy, nutritious, tasty and safe meal at dinner times.

If you child has a food allergy or food intolerance, we ask that they follow our allergen- medical diet process.  For further information please speak to a member of the catering staff by contacting [email protected]

Free School Meal Entitlement

This entitles the student to £2.70 towards a meal each day that can be spent in the restaurant.

You will need to apply for free school meals to the Local Authority upon starting your studies at The Blue Coat School Sixth Form. It does not automatically transfer over from your time at school, if you were eligible at that time.

Once you have proof of eligibility from the Local Authority, please forward this to [email protected] who will be able to confirm once processed.
